Coronavirus Update

Union General Health Systems, in an effort to support transparency and to report accurate information is providing notice of positive tests for COVID-19 in Union County Nursing Home. The majority of these positive residents remain asymptomatic and are doing well at the Nursing Home.  The residents are receiving care under the direction of his or her provider and currently only one resident is requiring hospitalization.  The residents who have tested positive are being housed in a separate area from non-positive residents. The Nursing Home will continue to communicate on a regular basis with the staff, residents and their families and encourages the families to communicate with the residents through virtual platforms and phone calls.  We are and remain extremely proud of our nursing home personnel in their tireless efforts to maintain a safe and caring environment for their residents.

The Nursing Home maintains best practices for infection prevention and control.  As directed by current recommendations, the Nursing Home prohibits visitors or nonessential personnel from entering the facility.  All staff are screened for symptoms throughout each day and before each shift.  Staff also wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) guidance to mitigate and prevent the spread of COVID-19.  The Nursing Home also consults with infectious disease experts to continually evaluate the best practices to treat and protect Nursing Home residents.  As this virus continues to spread throughout the United States, the Nursing Home is dedicated to maintaining these best practices and to continuously work with the experts from the State and the CDC to provide the best treatment models for all of our residents.   The community is encouraged to wash hands regularly, utilize hand sanitizers, wear a mask and follow the CDC guidance to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
